Tubing in the Delaware River
Beat the City Heat
This is fun. We did it and loved it. The Tubing location is technically located in New Jersey but the river borders Pennsylvania as well (keep to the left bank). The lazy river adventure stretches 5-6 miles which takes 3-4 hours to complete. Tickets include a tube (you can upgrade to a larger tube with a headrest), life vest, bus ride to the river entrance + back, and a BBQ meal at Adventure Island with the “Famous River Hot Dog Man” (this was not available for our experience so we brought sandwiches and ate them while floating down the river, tip – rent an additional cooler tube, it’s worth it). The river has spots where it turns to rapids but it’s calm enough for a beginner.
-Pack light as you really can’t bring much with you.
-Buy a waterproof phone case if you plan on bringing it, they sell them there for $20 but you can also advance order on Amazon for $8-25.
-Water shoes are a MUST, the river floor bed ranges from rocks to deep mud
-The journey is long, so we were grateful to have some waters, a hat and sunblock with us.
-If you have a small bag with you, ask for a strap so that you can strap it to the tube handle, we had to chase a rogue cooler bag down the river.
Delaware River Tubing also offers raft, canoe and kayak rentals. Masks are required on the bus but the river is a great way to social distance and have a fun day in the sun. Be safe!
