New York City Beaches

What's the 411 this Memorial Weekend?

As Memorial Day Weekend begins, NYC beaches remain closed for swimming. Here are the official guidelines from the NYC Parks Department:

“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, New York City’s beaches are closed for swimming until further notice. Walking, running, exercising, and access to the sand and boardwalk are still permitted during regular park hours. Restrooms are open during regular hours.

If you visit the beach, please observe the following service changes: .
•Please limit the length of your visit
•Please practice social distancing and wear a face covering
•All gatherings and organized sports are prohibited
•Drinking fountains are closed
•To enforce social distancing restrictions, patrons will be asked to park in every other space in municipal parking lots
•At beaches with food services, only to-go service will be available, and online ordering will be used whenever possible.”

For more details on New York City beaches head to the Department of Parks website here.  And if you are missing Coney Island, check out their design your own face mask contest.

Riis Park Beach will be proceeding with a limited/scaled back 2020 beach food and beverage operation. Head to the National Park Service site for more details on state beaches & parks. As of now, there will be no lifeguards on duty at Riis, so it’s advised to not swim for your own safety.

Stay safe this Memorial Day weekend, practice social distancing & please remember, mass transit is for essential workers only. ☀️🇺🇸
